As you'd expect, during our time in IT, we have managed many projects. These projects have covered a variety of sizes, in all of the combinations of project size, budget and company. We pride ourselves in the way that we will always protect the key business principles without compromising the budget and timescales. If things have gone wrong, we'll tell you; and also help to fix what is wrong to minimise the impact. However, through our closely managed projects and risk analysis we like to believe we can spot the issues coming before they occur.
We're also happy to step into a project that is delinquent. In fact, we thrive on it. We've helped many clients out in the past with projects that need a "fresh set of eyes"; suggesting what needs to be changed and how the project can be brought back to the correct path - all in plain and simple language. You may like us to oversee the implementation of our changes / suggestions - we're happy to do that.
Whilst we understand that there are some very important principles in some of the formal project methodologies (i.e. PRINCE II) - we don't actively support one mechanism. We've read their manuals, but we use the best bits of them all. It should be accepted that the project management principles are in fact a toolkit, where you pick the elements that are important to a specific project, but we believe that you should also review the suitability of the project methodogy at key points, just as you would review the tasks within the project.
