A different style of e-commerce site for us, more based on content than products, we flexed our e-commerce package in a different way to make sure we provided the shopping experience desired.
When the designs for the Natural Sports Nutrition site where completed by Strawberry, we'd agreed that we'd have to deliver this site a little differently to ones we'd done before.
The site has much more content on it than previous sites, and has less than 10 products - all of which "live" in the same category. The existing e-commerce navigation and selection models didn't work.
We flexed the e-commerce package by producing a shell site which draws the content areas of the site from Expression Engine. In doing this we ensured that we kept the content sections of the site within the main skill set of the Strawberry design team. the site draws the data from Expression Engine and displays the product selection screen in a simple to use basket screen.
To do this, we re-used our "Favourite products" basket functionality where the user visiting the site gets a default favourite basket of all of the products. The user simply updates the quantities to indicate what they wish to buy. This provides a much different shopping process to the user, but ensures we re-use all our core components and experience.
